Swiss Cottage Restaurant, Mealsgate.

This is how it looked before its closure around 2009.

Holiday accommodation was also available at The Coach House.

The Coach House Swiss Restaurant in Mealsgate was located in a striking red sandstone Coach House built in 1861 by George Moore. It is a Grade II Listed Building which was once part of George Moore's larger Whitehall Estate. Now the Coach House and the neighbouring 14th Century Pele Tower are all that survive of that estate.

I was fortunate enough to eat in this restaurant on several occasions. Sadly, it is now closed and the premises are being turned into a number of prestigious homes by the award winning local builder, Lattimer who is based in Mealsgate.
