Dear Sir
I have taken the liberty of sending you a new edition of "Cecils Remains", no doubt you may have read it. It has struck me a Copy might be acceptable to your students. If you approve let me know the number you have & I will present each with a Copy. If you do not approve do not take the trouble to write.
Yours truly,
George Moore
This letter is very much to the point, being matter of fact and suggesting a take it or leave it approach. I think it gives some indication of George Moore's character. I think the book referred to is: Remains of the Rev. Richard Cecil, M.A., late rector of Bisley, and vicar of Chobham, Surrey; and minister of St. John's Chapel, Bedford Row, London; to which is prefixed a view of his character.
