Memorial in Carlisle Cathedral

A marble tablet, containing George Moore's medallion likeness, was erected in Carlisle Cathedral. “to perpetrate his name and example, and as a tribute of love.” The epitaph was composed by the Bishop of Carlisle. You are supposed to pay a small sum for a licence to take photographs in Carlisle Cathedral but the verger on duty, whom I engaged in conversation, told me that he had been evacuated to Bulwell in Nottingham during the blitz and, given the Nottingham connections, he kindly agreed to turn a blind-eye whilst I took the following photograph of this memorial to George Moore.
